For many people, their favorite beach is a special place where they can unwind and switch off from the stresses of everyday life.
For our Californian top model Maria Knofe, too, a beach is a place full of positive feelings and memories.
The calm sound of the waves, the soft sand under her feet and the bright blue sky allow her to immerse herself in a different world every time.
In our mini-series "Our favorite beaches", our photographer Eric Jamieson accompanies her to take some very atmospheric photos that make us feel like we've been there with Maria, too.
However, it's not just the idyllic nature that makes this beach her favorite place.
It's also the freedom she feels here. The freedom to just let herself drift and be fully in the moment.
This freedom is further enhanced when Maria spends a summer afternoon here and decides to go skinny dipping.
The first steps into the cool water are always a little overwhelming, but after just a few seconds she can feel the liberation flowing through her.
All thoughts and worries dissolve and she feels at one with nature.
The wind on Maria’s skin, the salty water around her and the warm rays of sunshine on her body - it's a feeling of pure freedom.
Everyone should have the experience of swimming naked in the sea.
It is a feeling of liberation and self-acceptance that is difficult to put into words.
It reminds us that we are all part of nature and that our bodies are something natural and beautiful.
